Head to the Prospect Park Bandshell Saturday, April 20, for the first-ever Prospect Park Fair, a free event that will include food, music and fun.
The day will include tastings from food trucks, music and information about activities and programs offered in the park, including as the new Pop-Up Audubon, Lefferts Historic House, tennis, volunteering and space rentals.
"We wanted to bring all the aspects of a New York City street fair (except the tube socks and sunglasses) to Prospect Park. And it's a great opportunity for us to highlight businesses that support the park and provide a fun activity for people," said Paul Nelson, spokesman for the Prospect Park Alliance.
The event replaces the Prospect Park Business Expo, which, Nelson said, the alliance wanted to make "more exciting."
More than a dozen area businesses will have tables including The Brooklyn Cyclones, the Great GoogaMooga and Prospect Heights' Lady J + 1, which sells locally-made jewelry.
Activities will include:
- Music
- Food trucks
- Tennis demonstrations
- Pop-Up Audubon
- 19th century games from Lefferts Historic House
- Food tastings, giveaways, and retail specials from Prospect Park Alliance business members
- Rentals Open House: Picnic House (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.),Boathouse (1 – 4 p.m.)
The fair will take place, rain or shine, at the Prospect Park Bandshell, located near Prospect Park West and 9th Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
