J. Hoberman An Army of Phantoms, Cold War film series: Panic in the Streets

As a special follow-up series BAM invites critic J. Hoberman back after 2008's 30 years of J. Hoberman for the publication of his new book "An Army of Phantoms: American Movies and the Making of the Cold War" and a special film series featuring 13 Cold War-era films.

Ella Kazan claimed there was nothing political about this Hollywood analogue to Camus' The Plague, a tense, atmospheric thriller in which suspicious foreigners carry a mysterious contagion to the US and a liberal doctor joins forces with a conservative cop to save besieged New Orleans.
