Drawing From The Park: The Living Landscape Series

Wendy Hollender, a botanical illustrator, author and instructor is presenting a demonstration: “Drawing from the Park” the 2nd event in the Living Landscapes Horticultural Series.  The demonstration will take place Wednesday June 15th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Visitors’ Center in Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn, NY.  The event is FREE and sponsored by Fort Greene Park Conservancy. 

Wendy is an instructor of Botanical Art and Illustration at the New York Botanical Garden and leads workshops in exotic locations such as Trinidad, Hawaii and many nature preserves, botanical gardens and parks.  She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, and earned a certificate of Botanical Art and Illustration from the New York Botanical Garden.  Wendy has exhibited her work extensively and most recently part of a traveling exhibition at Kew Gardens and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.  Illustrations by Hollender have graced the pages of publications such as Country Living and Horticulture, The New York Times and most recently O: The Oprah Magazine.  See her Website: www.drawingincolor.com

Wendy Hollender will demonstrate how to draw leaves, flowers and other botanicals.  She will bring drawing kits which include her workbook, Drawing in Color, and colored pencils for those who want to purchase and begin to work with her guidance.  She will introduce basic fundamentals of plant anatomy, single light source toning as well as color pencil techniques and color theory of the natural world.  Whether observing or participating you are sure to sharpen your vision for nature.
