Apelsinchik - Award Winning Russian Children’s Choir @ Irondale

Brooklyn NY: Irondale presents esteemed, award-winning Russian children’s choir Apelsinchik.  Great music about love, from any country, takes our breath away. It is enchanting and poetic. The singing of Apelsinchik is a combination of skill of the highest quality, sincerity, charm and awaking femininity. Apelsinchik is translated as "baby orange".  In Russia the smell of oranges means the New Year is coming. It is the fragrance of happiness and miracles. The fragrance of dreams.

Apelsinchik is a professional children’s group founded in 1988 by Svetlana Dik (Artistic Director) and Vladimir Dik (Managing Director). A rigorously trained group, they perform a diverse selection of music including the music of the Renaissance, modern, classical, folk and Russian classical.

At that time of its inception, Apelsinchik offered a new approach to music education for children in Russia, focusing strongly on creativity, adding to the tradition of self –discipline and the development of skills. The freedom of communication between the teacher and the young musicians allows for conversations about music and create a unique atmosphere. This freedom, combined with demanding training, achieves outstanding results allowing the children to excel and enjoy being part of the choir.
