Celebrate the Power of Reading With a Copy of The Lorax

Marking the birth of author Dr. Seuss with an unforgettable American classic.

Today is the birthday of Dr. Seuss, a.k.a. Theodore Geisel, the author of dozens of children’s books—many of which have been a staple for generations of readers.

And to celebrate, there's still time to participate in Read Across America at the and branches of the Brooklyn Public Library.

Timed with today's release of the film adaptation of The Lorax, the organizers behind Read Across America are calling for book lovers across the nation to take up Seuss' classic story about the lovable creature that fights to save the environment.

And for those ambitious readers looking for an even greater challenge, here is recommended by Rakisha Kerns-White of the Brooklyn Public Library.

So what are you doing to celebrate Read Across America Day? Spending the day nuzzled up with a paperback? Participating in a book club with Kindles in hand? Let us know!
