Arts Calendar: What's Up at BRIC and BAM?

Take a look at exhibitions running now!

Now that we're at the center of the burgeoning Brooklyn arts corridor, it's time to take a frequent look at what's going on every week in the Brooklyn arts scene. Here are a few events to help you plan out your week:

This week at BAM, check out Sider. It's a choreography exhibition and an exploration of 16th Century language through modern dance. From BAM's website:

"Dancers, equipped with earphones that play a recording unheard by the audience, deliver fragmented, enigmatic movements based on the cadences and meanings of the sumptuous Elizabethan text."

Also at BAM, you can catch the tail end of Cassavetes Redux, a look at the films of the 20th Century's most famous independent filmmaker.
Over at BRIC House, check out Housewarming: Notions of Home from the Center of the Universe. Their opening reception will take place on Oct. 9, and the exhibition will run through December. According to BRIC:

"This inaugural exhibition at BRIC House will act as a celebratory “housewarming” of the new gallery, as well as an exploration of notions of home from broad vantage points."

Definitely worth exploring, along with Armchair Parade, the installation pictured above.
