A BAM Cultural District Construction Roundup

Checking the status of three neighborhood projects of citywide significance.

The BAM Cultural District is humming.

Created in 2000, the area is undergoing a historic build out, with the new home of , and the third building associated with , all taking shape.

BAM's newest architectural offering, , seemed the one project almost ready for its scheduled opening this fall.

The finishing line for the other two projects still lay far off.

After two changes of location that moved its 299-seat stage from higher profile lots along Ashland Place and Fulton Street, Theater For a New Audience's eventual site on nearby Rockwell Place has already assumed its distinctive cube shape.

The new theater is expected to open in 2013.

As for BRIC's new home in the former Strand Theater on Fulton Street, there hasn't been much visible work since the project broke ground last October.

The scheduled completion date for that project is also sometime next year.
