Where To Go Tonight!

Still don't have plans for the big bash? Well, why leave the neighborhood?

Tired of watching the ball drop at home or spending New Year's at a lame house party? Here's a run-down of the spots in the neighborhood that are ringing in 2011 with style. They're all reasonably priced too, so you'll be able to afford some hair of the dog on New Year's Day.

Soul Summit at Sanders Studios [525 Waverly Ave. between Atlantic Avenue and Fulton Street, (646) 232-8857, www.sandersstudiosnyc.com]

Ring in the new year by dancing your face off at this boisterous New Year's bash. The $20 entry fee gets you access to free food and champagne, three large dance floors with live DJs, and five bars throughout the venue, including a swank martini bar.

Night of the Cookers [767 Fulton St between S. Oxford St. and S. Portland Ave., (718) 797-1197, www.nightofthecookers.com]

DJ Fritz will once again spin one of the hottest R&B and hip-hop set lists in town, but that's not all the $20 cover gets you. It also includes hors d'oeuvres, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight.

Fort Greene Council New Year's Eve Celebration [966 Fulton St between Cambridge Pl. and Grand Ave., (718) 638-6910, www.fortgreenecouncil.org]

Although it costs $60, the steep cover gets you a free drink and dinner provided by several of the best restaurants in town, live entertainment from Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers, and New Year's party favors.

(211 Dekalb Ave. at Adelphi St., (718) 852-6250, www.chezoskar.com)

Looking for a classier way to ring in 2011? Head over to this local French bistro, where $45 gets you a prix fixe, four-course menu with dishes including corn and lobster chowder, seared dive scallops, and balsamic glazed strawberries. They also provide a complimentary glass of champagne just before the ball drops.

Mullanes Bar and Grill [71 Lafayette Ave. at S. Elliot Pl., (718) 797-7606, www.mullanes.com]

If your love of football does not take a break, even for New Year's Eve, then Mullanes is your spot. They'll be showing all the sports games that night, and then the party will keep marching down the field like Peyton Manning running the two-minute drill. Everyone inside gets a free glass of champagne at midnight, as well as noise makers which will come in handy for the Fiesta Bowl game that night between UConn and Oklahoma.

[387 Myrtle Ave between Clermont and Vanderbilt avenues, (718) 858-1484, www.chezlolabrooklyn.com]

Local favorite Chez Lola is once again holding their New Year's Eve prix fixe menu. The $40 dinner gets you three courses with items such as Thai-style crab cakes, black peppered sirloin steak, and tapioca with fresh fruit puree, as well as a great bag of party favors and a champagne toast at midnight.

Bootleggers Ball at (85 S. Oxford St. at Lafayette Ave., no phone, www.geminiandscorpio.com)

No password is necessary for this speakeasy ball. Silent shorts curated by the Boston Underground Film Fest, a live brass band, face painting and burlesque performers mean that there's something for everyone here. The only downside is that there's no guarantee tickets will be available at the door, so book your tickets online at the reduced rate of $40.

Der Schwarze Kolner [710 Fulton St. at Greene Ave., (347) 841-4495, www.ex49com/dsk]

Music by DJ Cafeed and a live screening of the ball-drop are the main attractions at this no-cover New Year's Eve bash. The relatively new German bar features a wide range of high-end beers to keep the party going. If you can brave the cold, head out back for one of the best beer gardens in the neighborhood.
