Red Pandas Making Prospect Park Zoo Debut

Two newcomers for Prospect Park Zoo.

Two red pandas will be joining the Discovery Trail exhibit at the Prospect Park Zoo, according to Wildlife Conservation Society officials.

The red pandas in Brooklyn are part of a group of four split between Prospect Park and the Bronx Zoo.

Prospect Park's two new animals are from a species that originates in the eastern Himalayas, and are slightly larger than their cousins who will be living in the Bronx.

The species is considered "vulnerable," according to the International Union of Conservation of Nature.

The zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., November through March.
