Ratner Must Pay Anti-Barclays Groups' Legal Fees

Hundreds of thousands in fees pile up after decade-long Atlantic Yards fight.

Two groups that spent a decade fighting against the Barclays Center and development at Atlantic Yards will have their legal fees paid by developer Bruce Ratner.

As reported Thursday by the New York Daily News, the decision is the result of a legal victory in 2009 that two groups — Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn and Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council — managed in state Supreme Court. The victory led to a new environmental impact study for Atlantic Yards.

The payment for legal fees, which reports say total over $300,000, will be decided by a "special referee," the Daily News wrote.
