Bed-Stuy's Macon Library a NYC Award Finalist

The Macon Library in Bed-Stuy has been recognized as the local gem that it is — and is now getting an even greater chance to shine.

The local resource has been selected as one of ten finalists — out of every New York City library — for the first NYC Neighborhood Library Award. It was recognized for its community contributions and commitment to improving the lives of local residents. It was one of three Brooklyn libraries selected.

Metro-Forest Chamber of Commerce Reforms After 3-Year Hiatus

The Metro-Forest Chamber of Commerce is back in action and starting a process to develop a business improvement district following a three-year lapse.

The group, which initially formed in 1991, will host its first meeting in three years at 9 a.m. on Sept. 19 at American Legion Post 1424, located at 107-15 Metropolitan Ave.

Grilled Sandwich Contest Raises Over $1,000 for Amazing Garden

Chefs doles out sandwiches at the Amazing Garden on Carroll Street over the weekend to help raise over $1,000 to maintain the park.

The proceeds allow the volunteer-run garden to maintain public spaces and the composting facility.
