Greene Music on the Main Stage: Charles Bradley and The Menahan Street Band with Beans and DJ Todd-O-Phonic Todd

On Tuesday, July 26th, Charles Bradley, who is simply the best and most exciting new soul artist to appear on the scene in many years, will headline the Conservancy’s second and final Green Music show of 2011. Bradley moved back home to Brooklyn in his late 50’s to be near his family, and was soon discovered by the Dap-Kings’ Gabe Roth while doing his James Brown routine in a Bed-Stuy bar. He began to write original music with the Menahan Street Band, and their stunning new album, No Time For Dreaming, updates the classic soul sound of artists like Otis Redding with great songwriting and heartbreaking performances. Charles Bradley & the Menahan Street Band will be joined by one of NYC’s most interesting MCs - Beans (of the Anti-Pop Consortium), and DJ Todd-O-Phonic Todd.
