Brooklyn Navy Yard Building Sees Eco-friendly Renovation
The Duggal Greenhouse, formerly Building 268, has been revamped into the homebase for a company devoted to solving global electricity, water and agriculture problems.
A large Brooklyn Navy Yard building has undergone a complete transformation that will serve to better the community and the eco-system at large.
The Duggal Greenhouse, formerly Building 268, has been revamped by Baldev Duggal into the homebase for his company Duggal Energy Solutions, a company devoted to solving global electricity, water and agriculture problems, reported the New York Daily News.
Duggal Energy Solutions' first product, a solar-powered streetlamp known as the Lumi-Solair, was the only street light on the Atlantic City boardwalk to work through Superstorm Sandy, the News noted.
More than 50 of the street lamps have been installed in the Navy Yard, and comes in three models: "Classic for residential areas, the Swan for roadways or industrial areas, and Original, powered by wind, sun or a combination of the two," the Daily News wrote.
The Greenhouse, once a behemoth building that only served as a shelter for asbestos and rubble, is part of the 100,000 square feet in the Brooklyn Navy Yard that Duggal owns.
