Our Bed-Stuy site dropped a breaking news story about an 8-year-old girl, Shnaiya Purvis, who woke up her sleeping grandmother and sister-in-law inside of their burning apartment on Saturday afternoon. The fire took place on the ground floor of the residence located on 99 Tompkins Ave.

In Park Slope, Kristen Brown reported that budget cuts are resulting in Prospect Park cutting the majority of its educational programming. In addition, the hours worked by some part-time staff at Lefferts Historic House and the Prospect Park Audubon Center will also be decreased.
Finally, in Carroll Gardens, it was reported that civic organizations from Boerum Hill, Park Slope, and Prospect Heights have come together to form Atlantic Yards Watch. The site will monitor and chronicle the construction taking place at the Atlantic Yards site, as well as the effects it has on surrounding neighborhoods.
