The cellar manager of Bierkraft gives Patch some tips on what beer to buy for the game.

It’s game day and you need to stock your fridge, but with what?

We hit up Matt Barclay, the cellar manager over at on Fifth Avenue, for some advice on which beers go great with the game.

What: A bock-style lager brewed by Red Hook’s own Sixpoint Craft Ales in collaboration with Stumptown Coffee.  It just came out this week.

What: A crisp and refreshing Belgian-style wheat beer with coriander and orange zest from Milwaukee.

Victory All Malt Lager

What: An easy-drinking German-style lager from Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
Says Matt: “If you want a smooth session beer from PA, you can't beat this one.”

Ithaca Thirteen

What: A wheat beer brewed with brewed with citrusy Sorachi Ace and Citra hops and spiced with lemon and orange peel from Ithaca Beer Company in upstate New York.
Says Matt: “One of New York's most innovative delivers big time with its new anniversary beer. This is THE beer to have with wings.”

Sly Fox Renard d'Or

What: A Belgian-style strong golden ale from Pennsylvania (Matt compares it to Duvel).
Says Matt: “It only comes in three liter bottles, so if you open of these no one will forget your Super Bowl bash.”
