5 Ways To Stay Cool This Memorial Day

As the temperatures rise, there's plenty of options to take a breather from the blistering late-spring sun.

Be careful what you wish for.

1. FilmAfrica at , 30 Lafayette Ave. Sure, there's plenty of action still going on at DanceAfrica through Monday — however, there is a much cooler option, out of reach of the sun's blistering rays. Part of BAM's FilmAfrica series, the African Film Festival of short films shows at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. today. General admission is $12.

2. Ice Cream at , 229 DeKalb Ave. With this, it's a two-fer: Supporting a local business and trying some inventive — and temperature dropping — flavor creations. Check out their Salted Caramel Pretzel.
