5 Things: Enjoy Cult Classics, Jump On the 'Arrested Development' Bandwagon

 Join the cult. Go to Freddy’s Bar for Obsolete Cinema presents Private Resort & Spring Break.Join Freddy’s this Memorial Day weekend for a double dose of ’80s sex-addled film. The first screening will be of “Private Resort” (1985), catch Johnny Depp in his first starring role and newcomer Rob Morrow carouse at a Miami resort in the midst of jewel thief Hector Elizondo. The second flick will be “Spring Break” (1983), in Fort Lauderdale an overbooked hotel room pairs nerds and toughs for a spring break to remember. Beer, wet T-shirts, and the mouthful of a tag line say it all: “Like it’s really, totally, the most fun a couple of bodies can have. 2. Hear a story.
 Don’t miss Story Time with Ashley at powerHouse on 8th. This week staff member Ashley will be reading two spring-themed children's books at our weekly story time event. powerHouse on 8th, 1111 8th Ave, 11:30 a.m. 

3. Get arrested.
 This is the day we have all been waiting for: Arrested Development’s new season will be released today on Netflix. So, go to The Way Station for Sunday Screenings: Arrested Development + The World is Square + Nerd Karaoke. After Arrested Development, listen to two great bands play! The Way Station, 683 Washington Avenue, 5 p.m.

4. Watch all the pretty dancers. Check out BAM’s DanceAfrica 2013 Performances. The nation’s largest festival dedicated to African dance welcomes Umkhathi Theatre Works from Zimbabwe, plus many more, for an exhilarating celebration of culture from Africa and its diaspora. Peter Jay Sharp Building BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, 3 p.m. 

5. Move your car.
 The DOT’s alternate side parking rules are in effect today. However, they will be cancelled tomorrow, Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day.
