Sometimes its the dog sometimes its the owner. But to go on a witch hunt because you only hear aboutRead More pit attacks is kind of silly isn't it? These dogs can be sweet loving and snuggle bugs. If you properly train them and ssocialize them. Any dog can bite without proper training. As a pittie mom AND a new mom woth a two konth old baby at home, I feel awful for the victim. Stuff like this can be prevented. I won't lie sometimes my youngrr pit (I got her when ahe was 12 wks old, shes now 1 & 1/2) gets weird around strangers. So when we go to the vet she gets muzzled as a safety precaution. She gets scared easily so its the safe eay to do it. If I have company over and its going to be too much for her, she goes in my bedroom lays in bed and gets to watch tv. Shes still a baby and shes still in training. My oldest pit is 7 shes very hyper but she loves people. I always have control of either, because animals are unpredictable. ANY ANIMAL is unpredictable. As animal owners we need to be careful of our pets and read body language. Be responsible owners. Prayers for the family of the victim. So very sad this had to happen.

These dogs need to be banned! As I have said before, in countries where I have lived these dogsRead More were banned. You did not see nearly the amount of horror stories like these.

Did a bit of digging. 1 - Initial report is that there is no evidence of criminal misconduct on theRead More part of the owner. 2 - The dogs were in a contained yard. 3 - The injured girl and her family entered the yard without the dog owner's knowledge. 4 - The dog owner was not in the yard with the dogs when the attack began. 5 - The dogs initially sniffed the girl and left her alone. 6 - The attack began when the girl "got scared, shrieked and started to run. " 7 - The yard is a communal yard with two or more apartments/residences on the property. Now, for opinion, as a mother, a grandmother, and a dog-owner: 1. It doesn't matter what breed you have, if your dog is in a public/semi-public/shared-residential space, the owner should be out there to supervise the dog (or dogs, in this case). However, because it was private property, there is no criminal misconduct. 2 - If you have a child, teach your child how to interact with dogs calmly. By the time a ordinary child is five or six years of age, they are old enough to learn how to safely and calmly behave around dogs. While I love dogs (including pits), I do not place blame on the child as some pit-haters claim "pit nutters" do. However, the fact is that shrieking in fear and running can incite prey drive in many dogs - remember, as domesticated as they are, dogs still have prey drive - some more so, some less so - on an individual basis. I feel bad for this girl, who apparently was already afraid of dogs to begin with, and undoubtedly will now be even more fearful. This situation did not need to happen; the owner should have been out there with his dogs and the girl's family should have taught her how to react around dogs. Failing that, knowing she was afraid of dogs, they could have asked for the owner to take his dogs in before having the girl enter the dog's yard.

No, Alex. We believe God led (or inspired) various families, groups and individuals to come to HisRead More "Promised" or "chosen" land, reserved for a righteous people. The first family group thus described in the "Book of Mormon" as "led" by God, to what came to be known as the Americas, was the family of Lehi. Younger son Nephi and others were obedient to God's commands and blessed, while his brother Laman (and others) were lazy, jealous, disobedient and warred against the Nephites. God did not want the righteous Nephites to intermarry with the wicked Lamanites, so he cursed the latter with dark skin so that they would be visibly distinguished and separate.------------------------------------------- If you have more questions, please ask a Mormon friend, or invite Mormon missionaries in to answer them. Many FAQs are also on the website: www.mormon.org

Mad as hell... April 22, 2014 at 11:28 pm
Savecritters...I appreciate your concern but like I said you may want to make sure your homeownersRead More insurance will cover that dog. When you're on the receiving end of a pit bull dog's attack it's hard to fathom the logic in owning one.
Savecritters....you lost the argument as soon as you wrote "...owned by countless movieRead More stars..." What the hell does that prove?

Yeah, Miley Cyrus' pit bull killed her little doggie last fall. The other dog that just died...it'sRead More being covered up how it died. That's why all the articles that mention coyote say "allegedly".

Boss Hogg and Anthony. Thank you both. Seeing where it's coming from I'll take that as a compliment.

And the Bible says.....take the log out of your own eye so that you can see well enough to take theRead More speck out of your brother's eye. It also says not to judge, or you will be judged; and the measure by which you judge will be measured to you. Since Christie Nicole believes in the judgment day....it's gonna suck to be you!

Christie (n), we’re not grasping your philosophy and standards because they are nonsensical.Read More Promiscuity and sexual orientation are two separate things. Heterosexuals can be promiscuous and suffer the consequences (see Magic Johnson), and gay people can be as monogamous as you are.

Oh Christie - I was so anticipating you coming back with a story on just how much you've struggled,Read More and how much compassion you really do have for others. Because we've all struggled, right? But no, all I get is "it's gonna suck to be you!" This is how you convince me that you care for others??? So much for our bonding moment...

Fake Boss Hogg. Kinda funny coming from a guy that picked "Almost Brilliant" as a handleRead More a week ago...
Notbricktrash April 22, 2014 at 01:04 pm
This guy is psycho I see all negative posts on this breed. Us all who are for the breed let's postRead More positive things. This guy has no life obviously to sit and pick apart a breed. My dad was a meter reader in the day he was attacked and bitten 9 times on different occasions. 2 of them were German sheps, rest were ankle biters. ALL dogs bite. My parents were ignorant with pit bulls I remember my neighbors bf had them in my yard when I was a kid and my moms screaming they are vicious get inside. (They were sweet dogs) that goes with them being uneducated about the breed. They witnessed my neighbors pit mauling the neighbors small dog (their dog was nice until the crack heads put him in a cage 24/7) they are like till recently they are dangerous blah blah blah and know what I educated them I now rescued a pit lab who is a big baby and whom my parents adore. I cross post animals all over and many are pit bulls. They say 1 of 600 finds homes. It's sad cause in my dad's years of meter reading not one pit bull attacked him. 2 days in a row I saw 2 pits running in and out of traffic on a main road by my house. Almost hit them. I got out of my car called them over (had no fear as if it were a smaller dog or a shep) they came to me I grabbed their collars and what did they do? They licked me. I'm in school to be an nj Animal control officer and an associates in vet tech and I can bet you in my life I will support the pit breed in some successful way. I will never hate the breed or judge them. I've got bitten by a smaller dog breed do I judge them? No. So educate before you discriminate

Anyone who has ever seen a new litter of puppies will notice that some in the litter are bold andRead More daring while others are shy and cautious. (Check out "Too Cute" on Animal Planet Saturdays) They haven't had a chance to learn anything yet, but their inherited personalities are already obvious. Dogs have been bred for specific purposes since they were first bred from wolves. Inbred personalities should be taken into consideration when training a new puppy. You'll find that it's a lot easier to train your border collie to herd your chickens than to break him/her of chasing them because it is an inbred drive/desire. Other breeds would ignore the birds entirely. Most pit bull owners know their dogs and train/treat them accordingly. Others don't provide the training and socialization needed. These are the people who sue the police when their dog gets shot while attacking an innocent victim. They can't believe that their dog was capable of hurting anyone, therefore the police must have shot the wrong dog. This situation has been in the news far too often to be coincidence. Owners must be responsible for knowing, training and controlling their dogs. I can't imagine the heartbreak of losing a treasured pet, then being hit with a lawsuit because they had so much faith in their pet's good behavior that they let them roam the neighborhood.
