Worker Killed in Building Collapse Identified

Officials are still looking for 67-year-old Winston Gillett's next-of-kin.

The man killed when has been identified as Winston Gillett, 67, according to Councilwoman Letitia James, D-Fort Greene.

James called for the public's assistance in finding family or friends of Gillett, a construction worker of Jamaican descent. Gillett's last known address is on Irving Street in Bushwick.

“I urge anyone who recognizes Mr. Gillett to come forward so that we can provide closure to his family at this tragic time," James said in a statement Tuesday.

James said the Jamaican consulate had been contacted to assist in the search for Gillett's family.

Another worker injured at the construction site at 225-233 Carlton Ave. was identified as Clayton LaBoard, 43, who remains in critical condition from his injuries sustained on Monday.

Anyone with information in regards to Gillett is asked to contact James' City Hall office at 212-788-7081.
