Whither Black-Owned Fort Greene?: Night of the Cookers Closes

Restaurant and bar's demise the latest sign of a changing neighborhood.

In the end, concluded its 13-year run on Fulton Street with something more akin to a whimper than a bang.

The black-owned Southern food restaurant closed its doors for good last weekend—a month earlier than expected.

The space will be taken over by , which will move a block east from its current location to the larger Cookers storefront between S. Portland Avenue and S. Oxford Street, according the The Local Fort Greene blog.
