Putnam Triangle Debate Heating Up Again: One of "5 Things You Need To Know Today"

The ever controversial topic comes back to light with FACT's movie screening tonight.

1. FACT (Fulton Area Coming Together) is hosting a screening of their 20-minute video on the controversial Putnam pedestrian plaza today at 7 p.m. The creation of the FAB (Fulton Area Business Alliance) supported plaza has been a topic of heated debate in the community since early summer. Whether you’re for or against Putnam Plaza, everyone is welcome to stop by. The screening will be located at St. John FBH Church at 1016 Fulton St bet. Grand Avenue and Irving Place. Look for a poll on this topic later today.

2. It’s BYOD or in other words, Bring Your Own Drum for percussion classes at the Charles Moore Dance Theatre today at 77 Clinton Ave (bet. Park Avenue and Myrtle Avenue). Class is from 7-8:30 p.m. and it’s $12.

3. Community Board 2 is having a general meeting today. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon St. (on the corner of Court Street).

4. In case you missed it, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership has a new president, Director of Special projects for Two Trees Management Company Tucker Reed. “Tucker is well positioned to lead the Partnership and the ongoing transformation of Downtown Brooklyn as it continues to seek new investment, create jobs and prepare the area for an even greater influx of new residents,” said Alan Fishman, co-chairman of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership’s Board of Directors, in a statement.

5. All alternate side parking rules are in effect today.

Melissa, you should check the address of the FACT screening meeting tonight. I've been in the neighborhood for well over 40 yrs and I've never heard of Church St. between Grand and Irving!

Thanks Patch for advertising the "PLAZA" screening last night. It was a lovely evening, engaged in with an animated Q&A after. Melissa Kozser is right: FAB pushed the plaza, but FAB is not a part of the neighborhood debate, and wasn't at the community forum last night

Darlinda has it right. FAB is not a part of the neighborhood. I'm not really sure what it does, except act as a gofer for the DOT Commissioner. Does anyone know where FAB comes from and/or what it's up to?
