Patrols Stepped Up at Navy St. Overpass After Latest Incident
Public safety officers from Fort Greene Houses will patrol the pedestrian crossing, where teens have been spotted throwing rocks, bottles and oranges.
In response to more reports of attacks and mischief, public safety officers in charge of patrolling the Whitman and Ingersoll public housing complexes, will extend their watch to the Navy Street footbridge, according to the Brooklyn Paper.
The increased presence of officers comes as the city plans to start work on an eight-foot tall fence at the bridge this week, the report says. Nearby public housing residents, who have argued that had asked for more police patrols instead of the fence.
The Paper reports that Stephen Arthur, a cyclist who sustained injuries after a group of teens threw a brick at his head from the bridge last August, recently spotted teens throwing oranges at cars below.

Visiting the overpass Tuesday, Arthur reported "definite work towards making Navy Street more safe through extending an existing fence."
