Family of Worker Killed in Building Collapse Comes Forward

Winston Gillett plummeted four stories to his death at a construction site on Carlton Avenue Monday.

Calls for assistance in locating ended successfully on Wednesday.

A staffer for Councilwoman Letitia James, D-Fort Greene, confirmed that Gillett's family had been located in Florida.

Gillett, who is of Jamaican descent, had a last known address in Bushwick.

The 67-year-old laborer died when , sending him and another worker plummeting four-stories along with large cement blocks.

The second worker, a 43-year old man, was listed in serious condition at an area hospital earlier this week.

James' office joined others in utilizing traditional and social media to get the word out after officials reported trouble finding Gillett's family.

The staffer said the family would presumably travel to the city to claim Gillett's body.
