Dekalb Market to Pack Up For Good Come October

Retail and restaurant space to pull up stakes to make way for City Point development.

Here's a bit more proof for those who say good things never last.

Dekalb Market, at Willoughby Street and Flatbush Avenue Ext., will shutter for good in October to make way for the second phase of the massive City Point development, The Brooklyn Paper reported Friday.

Despite the temporary nature of the market, the timing of the closure reportedly came as a surprise for shopowners and restaurateurs—some whom have leases that extend beyond October.

"It’s been a roller-coaster," Allison Robicelli, co-owner of cupcake shop Robicelli’s, told The Brooklyn Paper. "We felt like we were going to get more notice to plan for the future."

The second phase of the 1.9 million-square-foot mixed retail and residential development will include space for —set to open in about two years.
