So now that there has been a car accident at the intersection of Myrtle and Vanderbilt Avenues, are we to be treated to another pedestrian plaza?

I heard the accident followed by screams from bystanders from my apt a block away... only made it worse to hear it was one of my fellow bike riders. Hope the rider will be ok.

Kings County Hospital will not divulge the condition of the man injured in this morning's incident, citing privacy provisions. We are still waiting for the NYPD to supply information as to the extent of his injuries, which at this point, do not seem to be life threatening.

That headline is crazy nonsensical: "Cyclist Injures Leg After Being Pinned Underneath Vehicle." So apparently: (a) the cyclist injured his own leg; no one facilitated this; (b) the injury occurred *after* his leg was pinned under a vehicle; and of course (c) the driver who drove his or her deadly object into the cyclist is no where to be found, either in the headline or the report. Those crazy bikers, running around pinning their own legs under vehicles!

I was there right after it happened. According to the driver behind the vehicle involved, the car was traveling westbound on Myrtle. No turns.

Hmmm...

The headline is still misleading. "Cyclist Injured Leg" doesn't sound right. "Driver Injured Cyclist" is more like it.

And still no mention of a driver. Just a car making a turn. Cars need drivers.
